I’ve been thinking about the kinds of projects I could start in the new year, and one of my intentions is to use my camera (my big camera) more. I am going to take this one month at a time. After googling for a significant amount of time and getting caught down some amazing photography rabbit holes, I have decided to embark on a black and white photography challenge.
This actually makes a lot of sense to me since
1) I don’t use black and white photographs very often
2) it’s January in Northern Minnesota and cold and dark inside and out
3) I have some awesome black and white filters I’d love to try out.
I think this will be a fun project and could lead to some amazing photos!
I’m also going to be following a 366 Photo A Day prompt challenge, co-hosted by one of my favorite bloggers/Instagrammers, LaShawn! I haven’t decided if I will use my Nikon, my iPhone, or both, but I’d love to do a monthly round-up at the end of each month to see all the different shots!
Lauren turned 12 on Sunday. I can’t believe it’s been twelve years since she was born. I’ve been a mom for more than a decade. It’s unreal to me how fast the time has gone!
We went to a holiday event on Saturday, and had a small party on Sunday. It was just me, the kids, my niece and nephew and my sister. My parents stopped by a little bit later for some cake and to give Lauren their gift. I made Lauren a triple chocolate cake with some little ponies on it (that she got to keep and play with later).
She got some new school clothes which she badly needed (growing too fast!) and a pony from Gramma and Papa. She got lots of My Little Pony toys and stuff from the rest of us. She sure loves those ponies right now!
Hopefully you won’t get sick of seeing these each week. It’s going to be my new photo project – taking a photo of each of the kids on the first day of each school week. It will be interesting to see the changes that occur by the end of the year!
I had my niece and nephew over this weekend for a sleepover. The kids had lots of fun making cards for Papa (my dad had open heart surgery on Friday and is currently doing as well as can be expected.)
There was the usual antics when Teegan and Leila come over – playdoh and slime everywhere, someone sits in green beans (and then steps on them), they stay up way too late giggling. But these are the memories they will remember and I’m glad they have each other, even if they don’t see each other very often.
